Most of us know a +1 within the Google+ platform.
But knowing that Google+ is Google, we can start to see how it is key to the ‘social layer’ as well.
A +1 can be used to:
- Plus a post in Google+, not linked to a website
- Plus a comment on a post’s thread, hence reinforcing that point
- Plus a post with a web link that is linked to a website
- Plus an article or blog post on a website
You can actually install a +1 button on your website as a way for people to share your content to Google+.
But how is a +1 on Google+ and a +1 on your website related?
See the video to find out more.
Indeed, a +1 on Google+ is reflected by the counter on your website’s +1 button.
Mike Elgan was discussing a way for images in G+ posts to link to websites, and thus provide credit for +1s in the counter as well. This made me realise I hadn’t shown the link in any videos, so prompted by Mike’s post I put one together.
