One of the photographers we are pleased to feature this week is +Walter Soestbergen.
Since 2007, photography has been a very serious hobby for Walter, with marco and bird photography being his main focus. This is how he spend most of his free time. Take a moment to view his work that he presents to you how he sees things through his lens. Here is a recent image Walter posted of himself that is very cool.
Our second featured photographer of the week is +Buck Shreck, a world renowned wildlife photographer and educator.
For over 25 years, Buck has been a professional wildlife photographer and has authored several books. His images have been recognized internationally and have been featured in magazines such as National Geographic.

The Power of Words
Active users of Google+ know that we can be easily misunderstood by our choice of words. Even punctuation can make a world of difference in communicating our tone and intent :)! Here’s a video that has gone viral on Youtube that walks us through an example of why the words we choose really matter.
Art and class in the Plus!
Curated by +Susanne Ramharter
Google+ Communities are a great place to learn about, discuss and share art, whether it is your own, or that of others. I am owner of one such Community, Art and Culture Vultures, one of the co-moderators of another, ARTlandea, and participant in a number of others. Moderating is work and effort on the part of the owners and moderators, who give their time to do so. You may not be aware of it, but Google+ has built-in logic to identify and tag posts it believes to be spam, just like in comment threads of posts.
These posts must be approved by a moderator before they become visible in the community.
Imagine how tedious it is to wade through many of such posts each day.
So, in order to improve the experience for all participants in communities, no matter what their role, I would like to share some tips that moderators of Art-Communities (probably applies to most communities) have:
- Please read any information about guidelines for the community, otherwise you risk being made aware of them publicly.
- Please make sure that your posts are in the proper Category – it is really boring having to constantly ask people to repost.
- I cannot emphasize this enough: unless specifically asked to do so, do NOT spam the community with numerous works of your own each day.
- If you share a work of art, whether your own or not, do tell us a bit about it, what it is, why you are sharing it, etc.
- Don’t overuse (or use at all) the possibility of external links to your blog or website.
- Do NOT spam with links to commercial sites.
- Do feel free to share work or posts of other artists.
Sharing is caring

How does Google’s Larry Page think differently about the purpose of business? For Page, just eking out a 5-10% improvement over your competitors’ offerings isn’t good enough – not by a long-shot. He’s looking for 10-fold improvements! This is an interesting interview with Larry Page in Wired. One of the best parts is Page’s views on competition in business. See what he says about it.
Author David Korten asks “What Would a Down-to-Earth Economy Look Like?” and the Good Business community dives in with some really impressive answers about a future economy and business sector that modeled itself more on nature and ecosystems. It’s a really interesting article and the discussion is just as interesting. So interesting, in fact, that Korten himself joins in on the community conversation with some very thoughtful response. How cool is that? Answer: very.
Social Media – Quick tips for Social Best Practices

Where else can I connect with my G+ friends?
More than once, this week I was asked to subscribe to a G+ers YouTube channel..
I am always happy to assist my fellow G+ers. Collaboration is about helping each other. My next thought was, “Hey! WE can make it a best practices habit. #collaboration and #connection.
So, here in the G+-iverse.. let’s make these connections part of our daily tasks when we meet new people that we like and have circled.
Be sure to follow your friends and new associates business pages, and subscribe to their YouTube channels. Every little bit we can do for each other is a gift..to both parties.
Make it easy for people to connect with all you do: Go to your ‘About tab’ and make sure you have all the links you want people to connect with in the ‘Other Profiles’ area. This way people can check it out as soon as they meet you. When you add someone to a circle, be sure to look for their other profiles, and connect there too
Make your day Magical!
The newsletter will evolve based on your feedback, so please let us know what you would like to see in the comments.
